Relay Rules

TEAM MEMBERSHIP Team members can be from any club, organization or group. Any member is allowed to run more than one leg. Team categories are: Mens, Womens, and Mixed. Mixed teams of 8 runners must have 4 men and 4 women. Mixed teams of 6 or 7 must have 3 women and mixed teams of 4 or 5 must have 2 women. Any other ratio is considered a MENS OPEN team.
INJURY If a member of your team becomes injured and is unable to complete his/her leg during the race, another team member may complete the leg. Your team will still be eligible for an award if you score.

Because of the injury, you may now be in a different division based on the number of men/women and ages on the team. Please notify a committee member at Funspot, so we may change your team’s division.
MISSING RUNNER If a runner gets to the Exchange Point and no teammate is present, for the exchange, the team can do one of two things...

     1) Wait for the missing team member to show up (remember, it’s your
responsibility to be at your Exchange point on time) or
     2) Another teammate can do the leg and you will still be eligible for
         an award if you score.

Please discuss with your team members how you will choose to handle this situation. The Race Officials at the Exchange Point must be notified before you continue the race. Strictly Enforced!

Because of the missing runner, you may now be in a different division based on the number of men/women and ages on the team. Please notify a committee member at Funspot, so we may change your team’s division.
NOT ALLOWED Dogs, ROllerblades, and Baby Strollers are NOT ALLOWED on the course:
Don't use any of these or your team may be disqualified. The North Medford Club STRONGLY discourages the use of headphones and/or IPOD devices. Please bear in mind many roads have little to no shoulder, and other roads are extremely busy with traffic. Headphones and music can be distracting to road and traffic conditions.
TRANSPORTATION Each team will receive two passes to place in the windshield of Two Vehicles that can be used to transport runners to the proper Exchange Points. NOTE: Exchange 5 at Morgan Farm can NOT be accessed by car- there will be Race Marshall's blocking access. There will be two shuttle buses to transport runners and spectators between Exchange 5(The Farm) and Exchange 6- Moultonboro School. Runners finishing Leg 5 at Morgan Farm can get the bus at finish of that leg and get dropped off at end of leg 6(Exchange 6) at Moultonboro School. Runners running leg 6(from the Farm to Moultonboro) will need to pick up the bus at Moultonboro School and take the shuttle bus BACK to Morgan Farm) PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. NO VEHICLES, even those with passes, will be allowed to travel beside a runner slowing or blocking traffic. No Parking on the shoulders of the roads anywhere. Simply park off roads, in parking lots.
COURSE MARKERS The course will be marked with
  • Orange Arrows w/Black lettering -Road Race
  • Orange and Black Arrows
  • Signs that say - FOOT RACE IN PROGRESS
These will be on every road that the runners will be running on.
Hopefully, this will help make the Public aware that this is a time to slow down. Just be Careful.
  • OFFICIALS Officials will be present at the Start, Finish, and at every Exchange Point. Exchange Points are busy places. If you have a dispute with another team, please try to resolve this issue among yourselves. If you are unable to do so, please bring it up with a North Medford Officer at the finish of the race. If anyone badgers a Race Official at an Exchange Point or argues with a Police Officer regarding interpretations about parking, traffic, crossing roads, etc. this may result in disqualification of your team. Remember to be polite and responsible. Do not block the view of race officials trying to record your numbers and your times. They need FULL VIEW of your NUMBERS and EXCHANGE.
