Winnipesaukee Relay 2003, September 20, 2003, 8AM starting at Funspot, Weirs, NH.
Batons are mandatory for all teams and are to be transferred at the exchanges.
Description of Event: Lake Winnipesaukee Relay 2003. Start 8 am.
Leg #1: 10.7mi. Start from Funspot at Weirs, NH to Gunstock.
Rolling hills and lakeside view of southern tip of lake and run through the
Weirs waterfront. After bridge there is a climb of .75 miles. Very scenic.
Leg #2: 11 mi. Arlbreg Ski Shop, Gunstock to Alton Bay Gazebo
Rolling hills throughout leg.
Leg #3: 9.3 mi. Gazebo at Alton Bay to Kingwood Regional HS
Alton Bay Hill, VERY STEEP .75 miles climb early, rolling hills after that.
Leg #4: 4.0 mi. Kingswood Regional to Abenaki Ski Area
Easiest of the legs and scenic run through Wolfboro and rolling hills.
Leg #5: 10.8 mi. Abenaki Ski Area to Morgan Farm, Moultonboro
Through the rolling hills of Wolfboro and Moultonboro.
Probably the prettiest leg
Leg #6: 6.4 mi. Morgan Farm, Moultonboro to Moultonboro High School
2nd easiest of legs. Careful of running curbs. Limited spacing.
Leg #7: 8.5 mi. Moultonboro High School to Interlakes High School
Rolling hills and scenic views of southern White Mountain Range.
Leg #8: 4.4 mi. Interlakes to Funspot
This leg is very hilly. Almost a roller coaster type run. Some very long
tough hills. Starts off going down, but soon goes up and down and up
again. Finish is uphill and VERY TOUGH!
Commemorative Winni "loon" glasses will be awarded in all divisions. Depth of prizes will be
determined by number of entries in each division.
